AT&T releases March Security patch to the Blackberry Priv.

Blackberry released the Blackberry Priv last year along with its traditional Qwerty keyboard which the company was earlier known for in the corporate world. The Blackberry Priv brought the Qwerty Keyboard to the Android smartphone which is still not the case in every device and Blackberry is very unique in this way. Blackberry has already said that its Blackberry Priv smartphone is more secure than any other device in the market currently.

Even though Blackberry has all the security measures, it is advisable to get the latest Android security patches to the phone so that none of the attacks can be remotely possible. This has been the case with AT&T which is also selling the Blackberry Priv in the U.S . BlackBerry PRIV users on AT&T are receiving a new firmware update which installs the latest monthly patch on the device. The update is being rolled out over the air through a phased process.

We have also gathered information that another major U.S carrier, Verizon is also seeding out the March security update to BlackBerry PRIV devices which arrives as build AAJ926.

Launched in 2015 with Android Lollipop on board, BlackBerry PRIV software has been bumped up to Android Marshmallow. As the the PRIV held flagship status with top of the line specifications, we believe it might receive the Android Nougat update sometime in the second half of this year but currently it is running the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow software based on Blackberry’s lightweight skin.

As is customary with all the phones recieving any firmware update or software update,it is advisable to connect the phone to any wall outlet or keep the phone’s battery above 80%. Also keep the phone in a good WiFi signal to avoid hiccups in the update process. As it is being rolled out as an OTA update, it might take some time to hit your device. But you can check for the update manually by going to Settings > About device > System updates
