Boot Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus into download and recovery mode: The Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus are the new flagships from Samsung. Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus became trending in the market. These devices had got too much love before they released. Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 plus features 1440 x 2960 pixels Super AMOLED display, 12MP rear and 8MP front facing camera, Snapdragon 835 system chip, 3000/3500mah battery.

Samsung devices come with download and recovery mode to instantly fix the thing when you messed up with your device. Where download mode allows you to flash the firmware using Odin on your Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus and recovery mode allows you perform a stuff like hard reset (factory reset), adb sideload OTA updates, cache wipe and much more.

While most of the Samsung devices booting into download or recovery mode required use of the home button along with volume button. But now physical buttons are not available on Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, to boot into download or recovery mode is done with volume up and down with power button. Steps to boot Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus into download and recovery mode

Recovery mode

  1. Power off your Galaxy S8 or S8 Plus
  2. Press and hold the Bixby button + Volume up button + Power button together until you see anything on screen.
  3. After you see the blue screen, leave the buttons, you will soon enter ‘Android recovery‘ screen now.
  4. Done

Download Mode

  1. Power off your Galaxy S8 or S8 Plus
  2. Press and hold the Bixby button + Volume up button + Power button together until you see anything on screen.
  3. When you see warning screen hit Volume down to enter into download mode.
  4. Done

Software Method [ADB]

Download mode

  1. Download and install ADB and Fastboot drivers
  2. Enable ‘USB debugging’ option from Phone Settings >> Developer Options. (To enable Developer Settings >> Go to About phone in settings and tap 7 times on the Build Number)
  3. Connect your Galaxy S8 or S8 Plus to PC, (Don’t power off the device) Press Shift + Right mouse click and in the click on open the command window in adb folder.
  4. Execute the following command in the command window.
adb reboot bootloader

Recovery mode

  1. Download and install ADB and Fastboot drivers
  2. Enable ‘USB debugging’ option from Phone Settings >> Developer Options. (To enable Developer Settings >> Go to About phone in settings and tap 7 times on the Build Number)
  3. Connect your Galaxy S8 or S8 Plus to PC, (Don’t power off the device) Press Shift + Right mouse click and in the click on open the command window in adb folder.
  4. Execute the following command in the command window.
    adb reboot recovery
