Root and unroot AT&T Asus ZenFone 2E

Root AT&T Asus Zenfone 2E:

  1. Connect the phone to the PC via micro USB cable, and ensure the computer recognized it. If it’s not recognized, follow step 3 below.
  2. Install the required device drivers and also adb/fastboot drivers for Zenfone 2E. ADB & Fastboot
  3. Download the one-click root and unroot toolkit in zip format.(above link)
  4. Extract it to a new folder for easy access.
  5. Check out the extracted folder, and run “Root_zenfone.bat” as administrator. A new command window will pop-up, and you will get a notification on the phone, just allow it.
  6. The phone will reboot into fastboot mode and do the rest. It will reboot the phone when it finishes.
  7. Open the SuperSU app and try to NOT update the su binaries when asked.

Done!!! Your Phone is rooted now

Unroot AT&T Asus Zenfone 2E:

  1. Head to the tool folder.
  2. Look for a bat file named “Xoa_root.bat” and run it.
  3. Follow any given instructions and your Zenfone will be unrooted after single reboot.

  1. My Asus Zenfone 2E has the APN settings grayed out and completely non-selectable. I have received a factory unlock code, did the procedure, and had a confirmation screen pop-up that said that the phone had been unlocked, however, it would not detect my SIM card and I had zero service from my phone. I was wondering if by rooting my phone if that would open up the grayed out APN settings and allow me to input my carrier’s settings? On a side question – If you have a Zenfone 2E, are your APN settings locked, or is it just mine?
