  • First download the CM12.1 latest version or nightly from here (Xda Thread Link old link Broken (Check the date and download the latest version) and download the Google app packege zip here and saved it on your desktop.
  • After downloading both zip files, transfer both CM.zip and gapps.zip to the micro SDCARD of your Zenfone 2 from PC via USB
  • Now boot your phone in recovery mode to flash both the files.(RECOVERY MODE==>> Power off your phone and hold down the volume + button and power button until the phone vibrates. After the vibration stops, release the power button and continue pressing the volume up button until the green Android robot appears. You should see a blue line below saying “Waiting Fastboot command”, Now here click vol down till you see Recovery mode in top big rectangle box, click the power button)
  • Now your phone is in Recovery mode.
  • Wipe data and perform a factory reset.(Don’t wipe internal memory)
  • Now Click install, navigate to those zip files that you transferred to your phone.
  • First install CM.zip and then the Gapps.zip file.
  • Then return back to the recovery main menu and Reboot system

DONE!!!! you have successfully Installed CyanogenMod CM 12.1 On your Asus Zenfone 2.

For confirmation go to setting and check your android version and CyanogenMod version.

    • But TWRP is needed in order to Flash.CyanogenMod ROMs are pre-rooted ROMS and come with supersu preinstalled you just have to enable them in the developer settings
