Moto G4 starts getting the official Nougat update in the U.S.

We have seen that Motorola has launched the Moto G5 and the Moto G5 Plus at the MWC in Barcelona in February. The company has launched the Moto G5 Plus in India on March 15 and is all set to launch the Moto G5 in India on April 4. Both the phones come with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. One emberrasment for the company is that the Moto G4 and the Moto G4 Plus have not received the official Nougat update yet. Although Motorola has started testing the Nougat update on the Moto G4 and the Moto G4 Plus smartphones already but it has not been released yet.

Now, we have news that Moto G4 has started getting the official Nougat update in the U.S. A local US carrier called Retus is now seeding the Android 7.0 Nougat update to the Moto G4. Users of the device will receive the update as an OTA download. The software version for this update is NPJ25.93-14 and it is being released gradually. If you’re a Retus user and own the Moto G4 XT1625 variant, you will soon get the update, in case you haven’t already.

This is not the first rollout of the Nougat update for Moto G4 in the United States. Earlier this month, Republic Wireless, another U.S carrier had seeded the Nougat update to a few users as part of a maintenance release. It was basically a soak test for the software.

Motorola has not officially released the update to the smartphones yet but Retus is confident about the update and is seeding it to all users. If you haven’t received the update yet, do not worry, you will get it soon.

Make sure your device has more than 50 percent charge and is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network before you download and install the update. This ensures a seamless update process on the phone.
