Samsung releases April security updates for Galaxy S8 and S8+.

Samsung has been quite busy lately with all the phone launches going around worldwide. Samsung launched the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ last month in U.S, the company also launched the device in the Indian markets just a few days ago and the first update to the device has already arrived. One thing that gains the trust among consumers for a company particularly a company as big as Samsung is to provide after sales service to the phone as well. This doesn’t only mean for hardware but for software as well. Samsung has been aware of this fact and the company has released the April security update to its phones.

The new update is hitting Galaxy S8 units as build number G950FXXU1AQDD while the S8+ handsets are receiving the update as build number G955FXXU1AQDD. One not-so-good thing in this update is that apart from installing the April security patch, the update comes with a fix for the Bixby button remap. It disables the remapping ability of Bixby button on the two smartphones. Thus, henceforth S8 and S8+ users will no longer be able to launch alternative AI Google Assistant or any other apps using the Bixby button with the help of third party apps.

This should close down all the hacks that were available for remapping the Bixby button to open Google Assistant or Google Now. This is a personal choice for many people and Samsung wants the people to try Bixby for a period before coming to any decision. This decision will obviously not please some other people who have tried Google Assistant and don’t want to use any other assistant. But for now, the update is rolling out to all the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ devices and make sure to update it because the update carries the April security patch as well.
