Kodi On Fire TV Stick

  • Enable apps from unknown sources and then turn on ADB

The default settings of Fire TV Stick and Fire TV are not set to allow applications to be installed from any party outside the Amazon Store. For changing this setting, you will need to go to Settings -> Device -> Developer Options and then toggle “Apps from Unknown source” to on. You also need to turn on ADB Debugging.

  • Know your Fire TV Stick’s IP Address

For communicating with your Fire TV Stick, you will need its IP Address. For getting the IP Address, you must go to Settings -> Device -> About -> Network and then note down the given IP Address.

  • Download Kodi

Now download the Kodi file by going to the link mentioned above. Start the installation by clicking the Android icon for bringing a pop-up dialog box and then select the ARMV7A (32 bit) link. Don’t select the 64bit link otherwise, you will get an error. A .pkg file will be downloaded to your PC. It is the Android installation file which you will need in the next step.

  • Set up the adbLink

Using adbLink tool is one of the best ways to install Kodi. This tool uses ADB for transmitting the downloaded Kodi installation file for installing it automatically on your Fire TV Stick.

You can download adbLink by using the link mentioned above and then installing it on your PC. As the installation routine is completed, run the software. Now click the new button where a dialog box will appear and you will need to enter the description, and the ID address which you have noted down above. Ignore all the other details and save.

  • Install the Package

You need to click the connect button in the adbLink for connecting to your Fire TV Stick. You will come across your device being listed under Connected devices. Now you should install APK, select the Kodi.pkg file downloaded earlier, and then click Open. Select yes when adbLink asks if you want to install the file.

You will notice at the bottom of your screen that it says ‘ADB running’, and a green bar showing the status will fill up slowly. This might take a few minutes but you must be patient. Once the installation is complete, you need to click OK.

  • Run it

Go back to the homepage of your Fire TV Stick and at the end of your Apps & Games section, you will notice a fresh Kodi icon. You need to select this and run Kodi.
