1. Go to the Xiaomi account site and create a new account while having the region set to the United States
2. Make sure you’re using a different name and a different email
3. Once it is done, you must factory reset your smartphone and add the account
4. Carry out the bootloader unlock using the new account and MIUI Unlock Tool
5. If you’re still getting any issues, you will need to delete your existing account that is associated with the same phone number linked to your new account
6. Remember, doing this will delete the data that you synced to your account, so you must have a backup beforehand and delete the existing account
7. Once it is done, start from Step 2 again and this time you won’t have any issues
8. Once the process has been completed, you will still need to wait 168 hours for unlocking the bootloader as this is how the official unlocking process works
