When you have to unlock the bootloader, most Android devices only need to execute the Fastboot flashing unlock commands. However, Xiaomi seems to have overcomplicated the process. From adding your account to the device to using just the carrier data during the setup, things couldn’t have gone any worse.

If you’re getting the same issue, then this guide is perfect for you. In this guide, you will get to know how to fix Couldn’t unlock please add your account in MIUI’s settings.

  1. Hi, I bought a Xiaomi 13 Chinese version on Aliexpress with global rom and unlocked bootloader. Since google pay didn’t let me register my credit card because the phone was rooted, I used Miflash 2022.5.7.0 to install the fuxi_eea_global_images_V14.0.9.0.UMCEUXM_14.0 rom and I used the “clean all and lock” option. Now the phone doesn’t start, it stays in fastboot, I tried to use Mi-unlock but it doesn’t work it says “Please add your account in settings > Developer options > Mi unlock status”, but I can’t restore to factory data and add an account use because the phone won’t start. How can I do? Thank you

    • Power off your Xiaomi/Redmi device.

Boot into Fastboot mode by holding down the Volume Down and Power buttons simultaneously.

Connect your phone to your computer via USB cable.

On your computer, go to https://en.miui.com/unlock/download_en.html and download the Xiaomi Mi Unlock Tool.

Launch the Mi Unlock Tool on your computer. It should detect your device in Fastboot mode.

Click the “Unlock” button in the Mi Unlock Tool to begin the unlocking process.

Follow any prompts in the tool to complete the unlocking. It may require waiting a certain amount of time.

Once unlocked, you can reboot to the unlocked bootloader state.
