We have already seen in the last few days about Samsung’s committment to give software updates to its phones like the flagship devices and also its lower end smartphones which are also very popular like the J series and On series of smartphones. This time is no different and Samsung is once again pushing an update to one of its flagship and this phone is from its Note series which is intended for business users. This device is the Dual Sim variant of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5.
Samsung is rolling out a new firmware update to Galaxy Note 5 Dual SIM (SM-N208) which bumps up the software to Android Nougat. The update is being rolled out over the air. Arriving as build number N9208XXU3CQC6 to Galaxy Note 5 Dual SIM (also known as Note 5 Duos), the update installs the Android 7.0 Nougat OS. It also brings the March security patch update.
Meanwhile, Samsung has also started seeding out the Android 7.0 Nougat update to single SIM Galaxy Note 5 units in various regions. The users in India have reported receiving the update as firmware build N920GDDU3CQC7.
Once the Nougat has been installed, users of Galaxy Note 5 Duos will be greeted with a handful of new features viz split-window mode, improved menu settings, improved user interface and notification controls. The OTA update should reach your device soon if it hasn’t already. Or instead of waiting you can check for it manually by going to Settings > About device > System updates. We have usually seen that the Nougat update tends to be very big in size, usually bigger than a GB so it is advisable to download the update with WiFi as it may incur excess data charges on the mobile network. It also means that you should charge your battery so that the download is not interrupted as it may take some time.
