Galaxy S20 series receiving June 2021 security patch update

Now, we have entered June 2021, but Samsung started rolling out the June security patch last week. Galaxy Z Flip 5G is the first phone to receive the newest security patch, then followed by Galaxy S21 series. As per the fresh information, Galaxy S20 series phones start receiving June 2021 security update.

Currently, the update has been spotted in several markets including UK and Luxembourg. It will gradually reach Galaxy S20 series users in other regions. The update can be identified by firmware versions G981BXXS8DUE4G986BXXS8DUE4, and G988BXXS8DUE4 respectively for Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra.

As per the Sammobile report, the update does not bring any other features, improvements other than a new security patch. Also, Samsung has not yet detailed the June 2021 security patch. So, it’s unknown which security vulnerabilities are being patched by the newest security patch. 

The update should reach your Galaxy S20 phone with a pop-up notification. You can manually check for the latest update by navigating to Settings >> Software updates. Then, tap on “Download and install“, if an update is available.
