Google released the Google Pixel last year which is the first phone that the company has launched with the tag of ‘Made by Google’. Earlier Google used to release as many as two Nexus devices per year which were made by other manufacturer and Google would provide support for the phone. The last Nexus devices we saw were the Nexus 6p and the Nexus 5x and then Google decided to stop the Nexus program and started the Pixel phones. Do keep in mind that Google is still not manufacturing the Pixel phones in-house and it has been known that HTC has manufactured the Pixel phones but Google had its say on every part of the phone. Google Pixel has had tremendous support worldwide and the company is finding it hard to manage stocks.
Google has also launched the Google Pixel in India starting at Rs. 57000 but the phone has not got the kind of response that Google expected and it could be due to the higher price that Google has tagged for its phone. Nevertheless, Google is now adding extra new features to attract some customers in India. VoLTE calling was already available on the Google Pixel and Pixel XL since December last year, a new software update will soon enable WiFi calling as well. This is for those who’re using a Reliance Jio SIM on their Pixel or Pixel XL.
Google announced the same via a Twitter post recently. The WiFi calling feature for Jio on the Pixel smartphones will be enabled via a new Nougat software update. The update that’s supposed to be rolling out to Pixel and Pixel XL users in India is most likely Android 7.1.2 Nougat. Make sure to update the phone whenever it comes to enjoy the benefits of WiFi calling on your Pixel smartphone.
