WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging apps in not just India but all over the world. It is an app found on almost every smartphone. The popular messaging app has undoubtedly made life easier as you’ll find it easier to connect with your family and friends and communicate with them anytime, anyplace.
However, there’re times when you don’t want to chat with a contact and you might not even want to see their names on your WhatsApp chat. One of the ways to do that would be by blocking or deleting the contact. You can hide the contact if you don’t want to take that route.
How to hide contacts on WhatsApp?
Note: It only works with GBwhatsapp. With official WhatsApp, this is not possible. But you can archive chats on the Official WhatsApp app.
Hiding contacts without numbers mean that you’ll still have the contact and it won’t be deleted but their phone number will not be displayed. This way, the contact will not be visible to you while it’ll also keep the contact information private.
- To hide contacts in WhatsApp, open the app and then tap on the “Contacts” tab
- Then, tap on the contacts that you want to hide
- Now, tap on the three dots present in the top right corner of the screen
- Lastly, tap on “Hide this contact”
How to archive and Unarchive a chat on WhatsApp?
- Start by opening WhatsApp on your smartphone
- Find the chat of the contact that you want to hide or archive
- Tap and hold the specific chat
- Click on the archive button located at the top right corner
- You’ll notice that the chat has been archived and it doesn’t show up in your inbox

- Start by opening WhatsApp on your smartphone
- Above the inbox you’ll see the “Archived” section, tap on it
- Now, find the chat that you wish to unarchive or unhide
- Tap and hold the specific chat
- Click on the unarchive button located in the top right corner
- You’ll notice that the chat has returned to the inbox and isn’t in the archived section anymore
