The stock recovery has very limited functions. Most of the time stock recovery is used to install the official update via ADB sideload and to factory reset the device.

There is another type of recovery available for Android and it is called Custom recoveries. These recoveries like TWRP recovery or CWM has loads more functionalities.  These Custom recoveries allow users to take nandroid backups (full system backups). Users can install Custom Firmware /ROMs, Kernels and other .zip or .img files via these custom recoveries. One thing you have to remember, you can’t install Custom recoveries unless you unlock the bootloader of the device. Remember, if you install any Custom recovery, it replaces the stock recovery. Users have to follow the same steps to Boot into Stock Recovery or Custom Recovery.

The Huawei Mate 20 Pro was recently launched by Huawei (October 2018). Huawei Mate 20 Pro comes equipped with a large 6.39 inches AMOLED display (1440 x 3120 pixels). This is the first smartphone to be powered by a 7nm chip. The smartphone is powered by an Octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 980 (7 nm) processor coupled with 6/8GB of RAM and 128/256GB internal memory which is expandable up to 256GB via microSD card.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro runs on Android 9.0 Pie with EMUI 9.0 out of the box. It houses a 4200 mAh Non-removable battery. It also has a Fingerprint sensor under the display. The Huawei Mate 20 Pro sports a Triple camera setup on the rear side (40 MP + 20 MP + 8 MP) and 24 MP front shooting camera.

  • Turn off your smartphone completely.
  • Now Press and hold Volume UP button along with Power button simultaneously for a few secs
  • Your Huawei Mate 20 Pro will enter the stock recovery.

Note: Use Vol Up and Down button to navigate the menu and Power button to select.
