  • Make sure you have downloaded the OTA Update Zip file
  • Now Rename the downloaded file to update.zip
  • Extract the Update.Zip file
  • Create a folder named Dload in the device’s internal storage or on your SD card and put the update.app (Extracted Update.zip) file there
  • Then go to Settings > About phone > System Update, and then select Local Update.
  • After that, Give the downloaded update file’s location on the next screen
  • The installation will start automatically
  • Once completed, reboot your device
  • Done!!! Your device should now have the latest update running

You can start update from dialer *#*#2846579#*#* and ProjectMenu -> Software Upgrade -> SDCard Upgrade

  5. You indicate that the OTA update contains only the zip compressed update.app? OTA update for Marshmallow has more than 1.3GB for my G8 with tons of files. update.app has about 50MB. I would assume something is missing if I ignore all other files. And my experience is: If OTA fails, update via dload folder does the same.

    • Hi, have you find the solution? I have other updates (Nougat) OTA that are three zip files, these include several other file types.

  8. 1) Go to http://www.hihonor.com/in/support/
    2) Download firmware as per your device [ size around 1.5 GB ]
    3) Extract that and there you will find another file Sdupdate… Extract it too…
    4) now you will have dload folder in it containing update.app [ size around 3.4 GB ]
    5) copy that complete dload folder in your sdcard
    6) boot to your recovery mode [ vol up + vol down after reboot ]
    7) Let it update …. Done !!!

  12. hi, i was looking at the atda page. the “OTA update.zip fie” that I should down load is the link with “update.zip” only? or all of the three?? two of them are codes instead of a file, what are they used for? Thank you!

  13. i have Huawei G7-L01 and i use asian pasific ver. i followed the steps and when it get to the part where Emui ( software installing) , it says that the version is blablabla.. i didn’t get to read what the problem with the version because it was too fast. and I have to restart back. it seems that this firmware file is not the right one for me. is there any solution to this?
