HTC’s One M9 gets the March security patch via an OTA.

HTC has been busy at work doing some repair work for the company as they are not doing so great in the mobile industry. HTC has interestingly been lagging behind to its competitors from the past years due to some gruelling decisions and some sub-par hardware. HTC’s U Ultra also has not received good reviews from the critics. This has made the company focus on the past flagships. Yesterday, we reported that HTC 10 was receiving March security patch, now the flagship of HTC from 2015 is receiving the update.

HTC’s 2015 flagship, the One M9 is receiving a new OTA update that installs the March security patch on the smartphone. The update is very big in size coming via an On-the-Air update at 466.77MB, the OTA is arriving with the firmware build 4.30.617.2. It brings along several enhancements and bug fixes to the smartphone alongside the aforesaid monthly security patch.

As the update is being rolled over-the-air (OTA), it may or may not hit your device instantly. In case you are among the ones who don’t want to wait or can’t wait for the update to come to your device, you have an alternative way where you can head straight to Settings > About device > System updates to check for it manually.
The update doesn’t come with a whole lot of changes which justify the hefty 450+ MB update size but it does contain some enhancements and fixes that will improve the security level of your smartphone on the whole. This security patch from Google fixes some severe security bugs in the android devices so you should not wait and install the OTA as soon as it comes to your device. Also make sure to have a backup of all your important files just in case something has been messed up during installation of the update.
