iOS 12.4.1 security update released by Apple

Apple has started rolling out new iOS 12.4.1 security update for iPhones. The software update fixes the vulnerability issue which was allowing attackers to jailbreak any iPhone or iPad easily. Apple has released iOS 12.4 update previously which has some loopholes. Now, the firmware update is available for iPhone 5s and later devices, iPad Air or later, and the iPod Touch 6th generation model. Apple has also released the watchOS 5.3.1 for Apple Watch in order to improve its security and stability. Additionally, Apple has also offered a similar vulnerability issue fix in the macOS 10.14.6 for all Mac devices.

Apple has released iOS 12.4.1 security update

Unfortunately, Apple has done some changes with the previous iOS 12.4 update in May. It was causing trouble with the version 12.4 running Apple devices. As we all know that Apple is known for its most secure software platform and ecosystem. Apple mentioned that there may be a malicious application which was previously able to execute arbitrary code with the ecosystem. Now, the latest update fixes that issue completely. It’s worth mentioning that Apple is planning to add more security measures in the next iOS 13 updates to its devices.

The iPhone or iPad running iOS users gain system privileges or root privileges to run apps or code directly which is called Jailbreaking. This allows apps to run over the system permissions allowed by Apple itself. If you’re a developer, this jailbreaking process will come in handy for customizations or modifications. Otherwise, it may cause a system and data corrupt or loss by any mean.

If you have jailbroken your iOS device for any reason and installed any malware or spyware app, then you may be giving access to the app or a hacker to access your device data. It may include images, videos, calls, contacts, messages, location, bank details, and more.

Go to the device Settings > General > Software Update, in order to download and install the update. Make sure to take a complete backup of your device data at first. Though, the OTA update won’t affect any of your device data.
