Is the iPhone 12 Going to Be Good for Mobile Gaming?

by

Apple’s latest iPhone release has brought with it a whole raft of upgrades designed to make it look better and feel faster. The new line-up features faster processors, 5G connectivity and a varying set of screen sizes which should all help in making for a great overall user experience. However, with us spending more and more time on our phones and engaging in the world of mobile gaming, it’s important to know if they’re going to be any good.

Before getting into this, however, it’s important to quantify what mobile gaming really is. Mobile gaming can take the form of applications either downloaded to the user’s phone or can take place in browsers. They can range from football games such as New Star Soccer to browser games on websites like Miniclip or other types of games like those in online casinos. For instance, the likes of Betfair offer an online casino welcome bonus that helps to entice customers to use their services which range from the traditional games of blackjack and roulette to online slot games. With a welcome bonus, you can get 50 free spins on any of their slots.

5G – The Next Generation of Connection Is Here

One of the biggest landmark developments when it comes to the new lineup of iPhones is the introduction of 5G capabilities. The main reason that 5G is expected to revolutionize the next generation of not just iPhones but the entire market is the fact that it offers lower latencies and 100x faster connection speeds than 4G. This is greatly beneficial for mobile gaming as it means you’ll be able to get in faster and also the connection when you’re in should be a lot more stable.

Screen Size – Real Estate Just Got a Bit More Valuable

With the release of the next generation of iPhones, Apple have decided to do things a bit differently than previously. With the iPhone 12, the American firm have introduced a ‘Mini’ variant that comes with a 5.4-inch display for those who don’t want the standard 6.1 inches of screen. Interestingly, both variants utilize a Super Retina XDR OLED display which offers what Apple claim to offer “the best OLED displays that have ever been seen in a smartphone”. The standard iPhone 12 offers a resolution of 2532×1170, whilst the Mini offers a 2340×1080.

Processing Power – Speed Is Key

All of Apple’s latest iPhones come with the all-new A14 chips which look to be perfect for mobile gaming. With 30% faster graphics performance than the old A12 processors, they certainly should offer a smoother gaming experience than previous iPhones. This is certainly helped by the fact that all phones in the lineup come with either 4GB (iPhone 12/Mini) or 6GB of RAM (iPhone 12 Pro/Pro Max).
