The popular LineageOS ROM has just got updated to the Android 12.1 as it comes with the build version LineageOS 19.1. The update will bring in the latest Android 12.1 features introduced by Google during last year’s I/O 2021. While the smartphone world waits for the stable Android 13 update, Android 12 development has just got significantly interesting with the entry of the popular and sought-after custom ROM.
Upon installation, LineageOS 19.1 will come with an entirely new setup wizard, with new Android 12-styled icons, animations, and many new configurable pages. The size of the LineageOS 19.1 custom ROM has been increased by around 200MB as it weighs 763.54 MB compared to the previous LineageOS 18.1, which came at 557.97 MB in size.

LineageOS 19.1 features
- WebView is updated to Chromium 100.0.4896.58
- Completely redone the volume panel that was introduced in Android 12 and modified into a side pop-out expanding panel
- The updater app has seen numerous bug fixes and improvements
- The web browser, Jelly has seen numerous bug fixes and improvements
- Numerous changes and improvements back upstream to the Seedvault backup app
- The recorder app has seen multiple bug fixes, improvements, and add features
- The adb_root service isn’t tied to the build type property any more
- Android TV builds ship with an ad-free Android TV launcher unlike Google’s ad-enabled launcher
- Moreover, Android TV builds also ship with a key-handler, enabling the user to support custom keys on a wide array of Bluetooth and IR remotes
- The AOSP Clang toolchain is the default toolchain used for compiling the kernels
- Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Camera is dropped and devices that were using it previously will now be using Camera2
- Support for high-touch polling rate is added to the SDK, which allows it to be enabled on supported devices
- Dark mode comes enabled by default
- There’s a new set of icons for almost every app, even system ones
Pre-Requirements
- Enable USB Debugging on your device. Settings > About Phone > Tap on Build Number 7 times > Go back to Settings > System > Advanced > Developer Options > Enable USB Debugging.
- Also, enable the OEM Unlock from the Developer Options.
- Make sure the bootloader on your device is unlocked and your device is rooted and you have a custom recovery installed.
- Make sure your device has more than 50% battery.
- Make sure you have taken a backup of your important data. Now proceed to install Lineage OS 19.1 ROM (Android 12.1) on your device device.
- Make sure that you have installed TWRP recovery on your Android device.

Flashing Steps: Lineage OS 19.1 on your Android device – Android 12.1
- Make sure your device is rooted and have the latest TWRP recovery installed. (Check the Pre-Requirement Section Above)
- First, download the files from the above link and extract them.
- Now transfer the downloaded files to the internal storage of your device.
- Ensure that the bootloader is unlocked.
- Now reboot to the TWRP recovery.
- Take a Nandroid backup by selecting the option from the home screen and then your data and cache from the recovery menu.
- Now return to the main menu of TWRP and wipe cache, data, and system before flashing the ROM
- In order to Wipe data: Go to Wipe —> Advanced Wipe and select Dalvik/ART cache, cache, System, Vendor, and Data and then swipe to wipe. (Don’t select the internal storage)
- Now return to the main menu of TWRP again and install the ROM which is just a .zip file
- Go to Install -> Install Zip > ROM File (.zip)
- Next flash the Gapps file like custom ROMs
- Last but not least, flash Magisk (optional) if you want to root (not recommended as all devices have different methods)
Once the flashing process is completed, reboot your device and you will be booted into Lineage OS 19.1 ROM Based on Android 12.1. If you have any doubts regarding this process, feel free to comment below.
