OnePlus starts rolling out OTA update to OnePlus 2 coming with OxygenOS 3.5.8.

OnePlus has released an OTA update to the OnePlus 2 today which brings the OxygenOS 3.5.8 to the OnePlus 2 along with the March Security Patch Update. OnePlus has already released an update to OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T with OxygenOS 4.0.0 which brings the Android 7.1.1 Nougat to the devices. Now, the OnePlus 2 has also been given the March Security Patch.

The OnePlus 2 is now receiving the OxygenOS 3.5.8 update via OTA. This update will bring you the latest Google security patch (March) along with bug fixes and various other performance improvements over the previous version of OxygenOS.

As for the improvements in this update, the echo issue during Duo video calls have also been taken care of in this update. Along with that, the network drop issue, which have been going on for a while with OnePlus has also been fixed. Data roaming issues in certain countries have also been addressed. It must be noted that OnePlus will be pushing out the OTA in incremental stages. Only a small batch of users (about 50-100) will be able to receive the update at first. This amount will increase with the OTA rolling out for the next batch in a few more days.

The update is based of course on Marshmallow with the Nougat update still pending in beta stages but it will come with Nougat soon. You may receive a notification saying that the update is ready to download. If you haven’t received one, head over to Settings » About » Software Update and check manually.

As a customary thing before you proceed to download, ensure you have sufficient charge, over 50%, and backup all of your important data before doing so too. It is advisable to download the update over a stable WiFi connection than over mobile data so as not to incur additional charges. This will help to download the update without any issues so that it can be applied to the device seamlessly.
