The Razer Phone first generation was launched back in 2017 with flagship-grade specifications. It was meant for the mobile hardcore gamers basically. The device came with Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box and upgraded to Android 8.1 Oreo quickly. Now, after waiting a couple of months, Razer Phone Android 9 Pie update is rolling out in both the UK and the USA. The handset came with IGZO IPS LCD 5.7-inch display with 1440×2560 pixels resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. It’s powered by Snapdragon 835 SoC, Adreno 540 GPU, 8GB RAM, 64GB onboard storage, Dolby Atmos stereo speakers, etc.

The device came with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, A-GPS, NFC, USB Type-C port, etc. It has a 4,000 mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. While the device packs Fingerprint (side-mounted), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass sensors.
Razer Phone Android 9 Pie update released
Though it’s a flagship gaming smartphone, the company couldn’t manage to roll-out the frequent software updates to this model. The last Android security patch level was rolled out in July 2018. It’s over a year now. Now, the software update brings the July 2019 Android Security Patch to the device. As the update typically offers the latest Android 9.0 Pie version, it brings some of the core features as well.
The OTA update comes with the software version P-MR0-RC007-CKH-N.7063 to the device with some of the main features of Android Pie. Such as adaptive battery, gesture navigation, digital wellbeing, notification management, general bug fixes, and system performance improvement. The OTA comes with 1029MB in size.
