Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 tipped to come with S pen support

Last month, Samsung debuted the Galaxy Z Fold 2 with many improvements from its predecessor, Galaxy Fold. Rumors floating on the internet suggest that the company is now working to launch another foldable phone dubbed Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. A fresh report from The Elec suggests that the Samsung Z Fold 3 will come with S pen (stylus pen) support.

The Galaxy Z Fold 2 did not come with S pen support due to the digitizer flexibility and UTG durability issues in the EMR method. To fix these issues, Samsung will reportedly use Active Electrostatic Solution (AES) digitizer and change the thickness of ultra-thin glass (UTG) on Galaxy Z Fold 3. FYI, a Digitizer is a flexible circuit board that recognizes S pen.

The report mentions that the Galaxy Note series devices use Electro-Magnetic Resonance (EMR) digitizer for the S-pen support. This method could not be applied on the Galaxy Z Fold 2 due to the durability and flexibility issues. Using an S pen on the current UTG can leave a trace and affect touch sensitivity. To cope up with this, Samsung may use a glass processor to develop UTG thickness more than 60°C.

Some previous reports surrounding the Galaxy Z Fold 3 suggests that it may come with an under-display selfie camera. To recall, the ZTE Axon 20 5G is the first device to feature under-display front camera which was launched last month. That’s all for now, check back later for more updates.
