Snapdragon-powered Galaxy S20 FE getting August 2021 security update

Samsung’s August 2021 security patch rollout started last week with Galaxy A52. Recently, the company released the new security patch to Galaxy S20 FE powered by Samsung’s in-house Exynos SoC. Now, it is being rolled out to Snapdragon chip-powered Galaxy S20 FE.

As per a report from Sammobile, the new software update for Galaxy S20 FE (Snapdragon SoC) is rolling out in various regions including – Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam. It is bundled with firmware version G780GXXS2AUG4

Earlier today, Samsung detailed the August 2021 security patch, according to which it fixes 40 vulnerabilities to improve system security and privacy. We recommend you to install the update as soon as it hits your phone. Apart from a new security patch, the update does not bring any new features or improvements.

Snapdragon-powered Galaxy S20 FE users have already started receiving the August 2021 security update in the above-specified regions. You can manually check for the latest update by going to Settings >> Software update and then tapping on Download and Install. If there’s no new update available, then check again in a few days.

Samsung released the Galaxy S20 FE in 4G and 5G variants with Android 10 on-board. The smartphone got upgraded to Android 11 this year and is eligible to receive the next major OS upgrade, Android 12. Samsung is yet to announce the Android 12 eligible devices and update schedule.
