We have seen a number of devices getting the March security update which was released by Google in the beginning of March which is a way in Android to protect the devices from vulnerabilties that exist in Android and to prevent the devices from attacks. This also is a way to keep the phones updated every month with bug fixes and improvements that come along with the security patch. Google has already stated that all its partners running Android should provide the security patch updates to their phones as soon as possible so that the attacks could be prevented. All the major smartphone manufacturers have been keeping their promise to provide the security patches to their phones sooner or later.
Now is the time of Verizon, the U.S carrier which is most notably known as the slowest carrier in the U.S to release updates to its phones. One thing to note here is that in the U.S, the device manufacturer cannot directly release an update to their phones which are sold through carrier. The update has to go to the carrier then the carrier will modify the update with their tidbits and release it to their phones. This process usually takes a lot of time.
Blackberry PRIV users on Verizon Wireless network have reported receiving a new firmware update. Arriving as build AAJ926, the new update installs the latest monthly security patch on the Blackberry device.
The new software update, other than installing the March security patch, also enhances device performance and resolves known issues. It is being rolled out as an OTA update which means it might take some time before you can see it on your Verizon Blackberry device.
If you are the owner of a Blackberry PRIV on Verizon, you can check for the update manually by going to Settings > About device > System updates. Or else, you can patiently wait for the new firmware notification to arrive on your device which may take some time as it is a slow rollout.
