WhatsApp beta gets fingerprint lock feature on Android

WhatsApp always working for new features to provide its users with every update. While the WhatsApp beta developers are focusing on its functionalities along with security features. From early this year, there were reports came out that WhatsApp will bring the fingerprint authentication. Now, there is good news for WhatsApp for Android users. WhatsApp beta gets fingerprint lock feature on Android.

If you’re using the WhatsApp Beta app on your Android handset, you should receive a new update. If have not received the latest update yet, then check for the update for 2.19.221 version. After updating to the latest version, open the app and go to the Settings > Account > Privacy option. Then turn on the toggle of Unlock with Fingerprint.

The fingerprint authentication will prompt after 30 minutes, 1 minute, or immediately. The ‘immediately’ option will ask for fingerprint unlock every time you unlock your device and open the WhatsApp. Even the app goes inactive for a short period, it will ask for authentication. This will increase the extra layer of security.

The fingerprint unlocks feature will prompt only when you open the app. While the users can normally pick up the voice and video calls on WhatsApp. Even users can normally reply to a WhatsApp message which appears in the notification panel. Additionally, the WhatsApp widget also won’t show the data while fingerprint authentication enabled.
