Xiaomi apollo and gauguin series with code-names and camera details leaked

In the past, we knew that Xiaomi is working on “apollo” and “gauguin” smartphone series. At that time we had no clear evidence confirming the details. Now, tipster @_the_tech_guy has posted images on twitter revealing code-names and camera details of some of the upcoming Xiaomi smartphones.

The source code reveals Xiaomi apollo series and gauguin series will consist of 2 smartphones. Starting with the apollo series, it will include Xiaomi apollo and apollo pro. The regular apollo has triple camera setup on the back with 64MP primary camera. While the pro version will feature triple camera setup on the back which includes a 108MP primary camera. The source code reveals, the Xiaomi apollo series will launch in India also.

Now coming to the gauguin series, it also consists of two smartphones: a regular gauguin and a gauguin pro. The Xiaomi gauguin features triple camera setup on the back which includes a 108MP primary camera. The global and India version of this phone will feature only 64MP main camera, quite strange. The pro version (“back_gauguinpro” codename) also features triple camera setup on the back and includes the main camera of 108 megapixels.

The source shows the Indian and Global variant of Xiaomi Gauguin pro will come with 64MP triple camera. It is very strange and looks like a mistake in the source code as the gauguin pro (India and Global variant) should have 108MP camera, unlike the regular variant.

It’s worth mentioning that the tweet by @the_tech_guy does not include a source. So we don’t know the page where the source codes can be found. Recalling previous rumours, it suggests that the Xiaomi Gauguin will have 64MP main camera while the Pro version will come with 108MP triple camera. Both of these phones are said to be powered by Qualcomm processors.

Back in July, a Xiaomi smartphone with model number M2007J3SG was spotted on Geekbench. The device was speculated to be the Xiaomi apollo. The Geekbench listing revealed the phone has 8GB of RAM and is powered by 1.8GHz Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor. We’ll keep you updated with latest updates as we get more intel on this.
