Xiaomi Mi 11 series tipped to feature MEMC, SDR-to-HDR unmapping, AI upscaling and more

The next flagship smartphone series from Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi could be the Mi 11. The lineup is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 875 SoC which is expected to unveil at the Snapdragon Tech Summit. The event is scheduled to be held on December 1.

Xiaomi could be the first smartphone manufacturer to launch a phone powered by Snapdragon 875. Xiaomi is yet to reveal any details regarding the Mi 11 but recent leaks have revealed some key details. An earlier leak by a popular tipster Digital Chat Station suggests that Mi 11 Pro will have a QHD+ resolution panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. If this is so, then it will be a big jump as the Mi 10 Pro only offers FHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate.

Xiaomi Mi 11 display features

This time the tipster has managed to find several new display features by digging into the MIUI 12 source code. These new features include – MEMC, SDR to HDR unmapping, Super resolution, AI upscaling, and more. Most of these features can be found in Oppo Find X2 flagship series phones that debuted earlier this year.

The MEMC feature is already implemented in some of the Xiaomi phones which include Mi 10 Ultra and Mi 10 Pro. But, adding the SDR-to-HDR unmapping or AI upscaling would be new to Xiaomi smartphones. Rumors believe that the Xiaomi Mi 11 series might launch in January 2021, the same month when Samsung is expected to unveil Galaxy S21 series.
