Motorola Finally Rolls Out Android 14 Update for Razr and Razr+ (2023)

Motorola has finally begun sending out the Android 14 update for its premium Razr 40 series (also known as Razr 2023 series) foldable smartphones. For context, Google first released the stable Android 14 update 9 months ago.

We all know that Motorola has not had a very good track record when it comes to software support for its devices. While other manufacturers have started working on Android 15, Motorola is still trying its best to extend Android 14 to its flagship devices.

About Android 14 update for Razr and Razr+ (2023)

The latest Android 14 update is now available for Moto Razr (2023) in the US. It has been confirmed on Motorola’s support page for Razr 40 Ultra. The update is currently in its early stages and available to select users in the United States. A Reddit user, Independent_Goose_41, reported receiving the update on their Razr 2023 model. Motorola plans to expand the rollout to more US users and global variants (Razr 40 and Razr 40 Ultra) in Europe and India soon.

More control over personal data

Now you can see and better control who has access to your personal data, like photos, location, and health information.

Grant partial access to images and videos

When apps request access to your media, you can now grant access to specific images and videos in your library, instead of granting access to all media of that type.

See when apps want to share your location with a 3rd party

If an app wants to share your location information with 3rd parties, the location permission screen will now highlight this information so that you can deny permission as needed.

If any apps you previously granted location permissions change their data sharing practices and start sharing data with 3rd parties, you will receive a notification so you can deny permissions if needed.

Get notified if someone is tracking you

You can now get notified automatically if your phone determines that an unknown tracker is moving with you. Unknown tracker alerts work with widely used Bluetooth trackers, including Apple AirTags and all trackers compatible with the Find My Device network.

Control your health data in a single place

Health Connect is a health and fitness repository. Use it to store all of your health data (activity, body measurement, nutrition, sleep, vitals) on your phone. Then, control which data you want to share with your favorite fitness apps.

How to update:

US-based Moto Razr 2023 users can check for updates by going to Settings > System updates > Check for updates.

Check Motorola Software Update

Users are advised to back up their data and ensure their device has at least 50% battery charge before initiating the update.
