Xiaomi’s wearable sub-brand Huami has now launched its new Amazfit GTR smartwatch in two sizes of 42mm and 47mm. It features continuous heart rate monitoring, reminders, Sleeps activity tracking, workout tracking, and more. There is a 47mm Iron Man Limited Edition smartwatch also announced with a red silicone strap, a gold color encasing, and a black matte finish ceramic bezel. The Amazfit GTR smartwatch supports 12 sports modes, offers up to 72 days of battery life, NFC, and has an air pressure sensor also.
Huami Amazfit GTR Specifications and Features
The new Amazfit smartwatch sports a round dial in two sizes of 42mm and 47mm. The 42mm sports a 1.2-inches display with a resolution of 390×390 pixels. While the 47mm dial sports a 1.39-inches display with 454×454 pixels resolution. Both the variants offer an AMOLED display panel with Corning Gorilla Glass protection which is a great thing. The smartwatch is 5ATM water and dust resistant that means it can be submerged up to 50 meters of water.
This smartwatch comes with Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, GPS, GLONASS, and more as connectivity options. It runs on devices which are running on Android 5.0 Lollipop or higher, iOS 10 or above. The smartwatch supports 12 sports modes like indoor/outdoor running, walking, outdoor/indoor riding, etc. Additionally, it also supports open water swimming, swimming in the pool, elliptical machine, mountaineering, trail running, and workout modes.
While other features include an air pressure sensor, BioTracker PPG for 24-hour accurate heart rate monitoring, reminder, capacitive sensor, etc. Meanwhile, the smartwatch features an ambient light sensor, 3 Axial geomagnetic, 6-Axis accelerometer, and more.
The 42mm variant is quite slim and light with 42.6×42.6×9.2mm dimension and 25.5 grams as weight. While the 47mm dial model is thicker enough with 47.2×47.2×10.75mm and heavier around at 48 grams. The 47mm model packs a 410 mAh Li-polymer battery and the 42mm model packs a 195 mAh Li-polymer battery which is the biggest change in both variants. The lower battery can last up to 34 days and bigger battery model can last up to 74 days in normal usage.
Price and Availability
The Huami Amazfit GTR 42mm standard variant smartwatch is priced in China at CNY 799 (Rs.7,900 approx) and the special edition with white leather strap is priced at CNY 999 (Rs.9,900 approx). The standard variant comes in black, pink, white, and red strap colour options. While the 47mm aluminium alloy and stainless steel versions with a brown leather strap are priced at CNY 999 (Rs.9,900 approx). The titanium model with a fluoro rubber strap and Iron Man SE are priced at CNY 1,399 (Rs.13,900 approx). All the models are open for sale in China right now.
The company didn’t mention the launch in other countries yet. However, Huami products not really available in other countries especially in India. Maybe Xiaomi can launch this type of smartwatches very soon in India like other products.
