Google Releases February 2018 Security Patch For Pixel & Nexus devices (OTA): Google has recently announced the latest version of Android which was named as Android 8.0 Oreo and this is the next version of Android after the launch of Android 7.0 and Android 7.1 Nougat last year. Now, we have also known that Android 8.1 Oreo has also been released by Google which is an incremental update to Android 8.0 and has been named as an MR1 release for Android Oreo which stands for Maintenance Release 1.
Also, we have known that all the Google device are currently updated to Android 8.1 Oreo already and other smartphones from different OEMs have also been updated to Android 8.0 Oreo with the release of Android 8.1 Oreo already in the works.Now, it is also very important to see which security patch update is currently installed on the device nowadays which is equally important to the software updates as this security patches bring the latest fixes to security flaws found on Android.
The release of security patches for Android devices was started by Google a few years ago in order to improve and strengthen the security of Android devices in which Google has been fairly successful. Also, we had seen that the January 2018 security patch update was released earlier last month which became the first security patch to be released this year.
Now, Google has released a new version of the security patch updates which it has been releasing every year and this security patch comes as the February 2018 security patch update. Now, it is known that this security patch update comes with some bug fixes and security improvements. The release of the February 2018 security patch has been done by Google in the form of factory images as well as OTA update for the Pixel and Nexus devices. The OTA update to the latest February 2018 security patch will arrive for the Pixel and Nexus devices in the coming days.
