Google’s Android Auto is known for its potential bugs and is full of connectivity issues from time to time. Google Maps is also a widely used service for Android users for ages to get a better navigating experience for longer destinations and unknown places. Though there are several other map services available like Waze, most Android device owners prefer to have a reliable Google Maps application. Recently, a new Android Auto bug force use Google Maps with Voice Commands which troubles users a lot.
We can’t deny that Android Auto has a great contribution to the automobile industry in navigating the map and the infotainment system. Recently, multiple reports have surfaced that several Android users are experiencing issues with unauthorized voice commands for other installed navigation apps.
Well, this kind of issue has been detected due to the command access directly interfering with Google Maps rather than verifying the installed other navigation applications. In that case, affected users are only forced to use Android Auto for Google Maps with voice commands.
Otherwise, the navigation doesn’t work or search for destinations in Android Auto. This specific issue has started appearing in the last week or so. No matter whether Waze or any other Android Auto navigation app has been installed, users only can give commands to Google Assistant.

Luckily, Google seems to have resolved the issue via a new update to the Google app. The latest app version 15.13.46.28 has fixed the broken functionality and users won’t face a similar issue again. You can go to the Google Play Store > Search for the Google app and install the update (if any).
However, you can keep tracking the issue further and don’t forget to report if the problem persists. Sometimes clearing the app cache data from the app info page can also help. Additionally, search for pending updates of the Android Auto app too and install them periodically.
