Apple has started pushing the new beta updates for iPhones and iPads and they come in the form of iOS 16.6 Beta 4 and iPadOS 16.6 Beta 4 updates.
After Apple released the second iOS 17 beta a few days back, the company has introduced a new beta for iOS 16.6. Apple has already started testing iOS 16.6 alongside iOS 17 but significant changes aren’t expected in the remaining stages of the beta update.
However, users are still anticipating a few fixes and minor changes.
Apple testing the new iOS and iPadOS beta updates
Apple has been rolling out the iOS 16.6 Beta 4 and iPadOS 16.6 Beta 4 updates. Apple will continue to test the beta builds for the next few iOS 16 releases. It is expected that most of the people will want to switch to the iOS 17 beta once it becomes stable. However, it isn’t recommended to switch to the iOS 17 beta due to the prospect of major bugs. If you have been using the iOS 16.6 beta, you can continue using the new beta.
Alongside the iOS 16.6 Beta 4 and iPadOS 16.6 Beta 4, Apple has also rolled out watchOS 9.6 Beta 4, tvOS 16.6 Beta 4, macOS Ventura 13.5 Beta 4, macOS Big Sur 11.7.9 RC4, and macOS Monterey 12.6.8 RC4. Both the iOS 16.6 Beta 4 and iPadOS 16.6 Beta 4 updates will come with the build number 20G5058d. The new iOS 16.6 beta update doesn’t bring any major changes. You can still expect bug fixes and performance improvements.
Steps to install the iOS 16.6 Beta 4 and iPadOS 16.6 Beta 4 update?
The new iOS 16.6 Beta 4 and iPadOS 16.6 Beta 4 updates are currently available to developers. However, soon it’ll become available to Public Beta testers too.
If you’re already on iOS 16.6 Beta update, you will be receiving the fourth beta on your device. To check for the new update manually, head over to Settings -> General -> Software Update.
