Steps to defeat Phantom Ganon in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom (TotK)

How to defeat Phantom Ganon in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom (TotK)

There are three types of Phantom Ganon that you will encounter and defeating each enemy will bring you rewards. Here are the different types of Phantom Ganon and how to defeat them –

Sword Phantom Ganon

This Ganon essentially has three attacks –

  • Raises his sword to the right and swings it at Link
  • Charges toward Link and swings his sword
  • Brings his sword across his body before unleashing a spin attack, dealing damage twice

The first two attacks can get blocked with the shield up but the spin attack could break through the shield. When Ganon brings his sword to the left side of the body, fall back and prepare yourself to avoid the spin attack altogether. Once you have defeated Sword Phantom Ganon, he’ll drop Demon King’s bow, a Gloom sword, and a few dark clumps.

Spear Phantom Ganon

This Ganon essentially has three attacks –

  • Ganon prepares his spear and stabs forward
  • Ganon will charge toward Link with his spear

You should be close to the Ganon and strafe around him in a circle as he’s preparing to attack. As long as you continue moving around the Ganon, you’ll be able to avoid both attacks as he has no sweeping attacks. Once he misses, you can go for a couple of hits and back out to avoid taking gloom damage. If you are having trouble avoiding his attacks by strafing, you should keep your shield up so that you can negate his damage. Once you have defeated Spear Phantom Ganon, you will get a Demon King’s bow, a gloom spear, and a few dark clumps.

Club Phantom Ganon

This Ganon essentially has three attacks –

  • Ganon places the club onto his shoulder, leaps into the air before, and smashes the ground once he comes down
  • Brings the club to his side, cleaving the area in front of him
  • Kicks in front of him

The fight will depend on your blocking and spacing, the distance between you and your enemy. As the Ganon leaps into the air, you will want to create some distance from the landing point to avoid taking any damage. If possible, you should pull off a backflip, old “ZL”, and then jump backward before he is about to hit the ground to initiate a flurry rush. The other two attacks can be blocked easily with a shield. Once this Ganon has been defeated, you will receive the Demon’s bow, a gloom club, and a few dark clumps.

In your journey through Hyrule, these insights will undoubtedly help you tackle the formidable Phantom Ganon. Remember, knowledge is your greatest weapon. Equip yourself well, and no adversary will stand a chance.
