Fossil has just launched new Fossil Gen 5 smartwatch runs on Wear OS. It’s powered by Snapdragon Wear 3100 platform and comes with an inbuilt speaker, improved battery life. The new model offers double internal storage as compared to the previous generation. The Gen 5 smartwatch is currently available for pre-order in the US, Europe, Middle East, and Africa regions. It will go on sale on August 26 this year. The company also mentioned that the smartwatch will arrive soon to Asia-Pacific regions as well. It’s priced at $295 (Rs.20,320 approx).

The smartwatch is available in a 44mm rounded dial size with a case thickness of 12mm. It comes in three design with the leather strap, black metallic strap, and rose-gold metallic strap. The new smartwatch includes an inbuilt speaker for better sound and alerts. The Gen 5 also features custom battery modes which can last up to 36hrs. This time Fossil has increased the internal storage capacity to 8GB which is good enough along with 1GB of RAM.
Though the Wear OS isn’t that optimized or stable to work smoothly on smartwatches, the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 platform will make the performance easier. The smartwatch features an accelerometer, altimeter, ambient light, gyroscope. It’s waterproof up to 30 meters.
While the company has also mentioned that the new smartwatch is typically released for iPhone users where you will get much-improved battery life and smartwatch experience over new chipset.
