Google announces the new Android 14 Beta 2 for Pixel smartphones

Google has announced the latest Android 14 beta 2 update for Pixel smartphones and it comes with cameras, media, privacy, security, and system UI enhancements. Thanks to the new Android 14 beta update, Pixel smartphone users will be able to download and enjoy the features of the new OS ahead of its stable release, which is scheduled to come out in August.

According to the details, Google is continuously looking to improve its large-screen device experience. This beta program is available for the first time on eligible smartphones, tablets, and foldables, including iQOO, Nothing, Lenovo, OnePlus, Tecno, Realme, Vivo, and Xiaomi.

Changelog for the new update for Pixel devices

As per the changelog, Android 14’s UI changes include secure full-screen intent notifications, new lock screen customization options, Ultra HDR for images, system UI upgrades, and more. The new version also focuses on graphics capabilities and Health Connect, which is essentially an on-device repository for health and fitness data.

Further, the release notes for the update don’t just include new features but also bring in various bug fixes, which are –

  • Comes with more secure full-screen intent notifications
  • There is a new feature of added support for custom predictive and built-in back animations
  • Data safety information has become more visible

The Android 14 Beta 2 has become available for Pixel 4a (5G), Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro smartphones. If you have enrolled in the Android Beta for Pixel program, your smartphone will automatically receive the over-the-air update for the beta.

If you have already installed the Android 14 beta 2, you will be able to see the update manually. To do that, head over to Settings -> System -> System Update. After that, you should tap on the “Check for Update” button.
