The specific firmware update comes with the 189MB package size via OTA, which isn’t that big. It brings the latest May 2024 security patch update along with Google’s AI-generated wallpaper feature. Well, this AI wallpaper generator option has been added previously to the flagship models only, such as the Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, and Samsung Galaxy S24 series.
If we recall correctly, the generative AI wallpaper feature was unveiled at the Google I/O 2023 event. It uses artificial intelligence to create stunning & personalized wallpapers depending on the user-configured themes. So, Pixel 8a users will also be able to enjoy this feature, just like premium smartphone users. We all know that Google already announced that the Pixel 8a will receive seven years of software updates like its bigger siblings.
