HMD Global started rolling out the Nokia 8.1 Android 10 update

The Finnish Mobile Phone brand HMD Global has announced the Nokia 8.1 Android 10 software update officially on October 9, 2019, on Twitter. The Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas has announced the latest Android OS version roll-out for the Nokia 8.1 as a stable on his official Twitter account. When it comes to the Android software updates and latest security patch updates, Nokia devices are getting better and better every day as a non-Pixel phone. While most of the budget and mid-range devices are still running on Android 9 Pie and some of them are in Pie beta also. Nokia smartphones are receiving the latest October 2019 Security patch updates officially.

Nokia 9 Pureview, Nokia 7.1, Nokia 7.1 Plus, Nokia 6.1, Nokia 6.1 Plus models are officially getting the latest October 2019 Android Security Patch Level update in some of the regions. Soon all the region users will receive the OTA update. Whereas, according to the HMD Global, this year Nokia 8.1 will be the first Nokia device that will receive official stable Android 10 update.

Then the rest of the eligible Nokia devices will receive the major Android update. The Android 10 update brings the system-wide dark mode, gesture navigation control, improved privacy & location control, Smart reply, and more features.

Mr. Juho Sarvikas also mentioned that the Nokia 8.1 will be the first Snapdragon 710 SoC powered smartphone to get the Android 10 update. As we all know that Nokia Android devices are running on Stock Android UI based on Google’s Android One program. Android One platform is developed for the budget and mid-range Android devices to receive the major Android updates for at least two years and security patch updates for at least three years. Additionally, Android One also ensures optimized app performances, improved system security, faster software updates than other non-Pixel Android devices.

If you’re using the Nokia 8.1 model whether it will be the 4GB/6GB RAM variant, you will soon receive the Android 10 OTA update notification automatically. However, if you haven’t received the Android 10 OTA update yet, then check for it manually. Go to the device Settings menu -> System -> Advanced -> System update.
