HP Launches Envy x360, the World’s First ‘IMAX’ PC

HP has announced the release of its new Envy x360 laptops, featuring improvements to the screen, keyboard, and an aspect ratio specifically designed for Disney Plus subscribers. This year’s model of HP’s midrange Envy line continues the tradition of offering good value for the money.

One of the standout features of the Envy x360 is its webcam. HP has equipped the device with a 5-megapixel camera with a physical shutter and Windows Hello support. According to HP, this camera will provide a “significantly better” image than last year’s Envy models.

But the real headline-grabber is the Envy x360’s IMAX certification. HP claims that the Envy x360 15 is the first “IMAX Enhanced certified PC,” featuring an extended aspect ratio that can display IMAX-shot content. While the program is typically applied to TVs and projectors, HP has managed to bring it to a laptop.

The Envy x360 also features an “IMAX theatrical sound mix,” which promises to deliver a fully immersive spatial audio experience with full dynamic range at reference level. This is a unique and exclusive feature that will make movies and TV shows sound incredible on the device.

For those interested in the technical details, the Envy x360 comes with 13th Gen Intel Core processors and Intel Iris Xe graphics. The 15 and 17-inch models can also be equipped with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 mobile GPU, while the 15-inch version also has an AMD Ryzen 7000 model with Radeon-integrated graphics.

Finally, the Envy x360 features a new fan design with 25% thinner blades, 58% more blades, and 9% increased airflow. As a result, the device will operate more quietly and coolly than earlier generations, which is always a bonus.

The Envy x360 14 is available now for $849.99, while the Envy x360 15 will be available later this month for a starting price of $949.99. The Envy x360 17 is set to arrive in May for $1,149.99.
