Samsung Galaxy S21 series finally gets One UI 6.1 update

Samsung has begun rolling out the One UI 6.1 update for its Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, and Galaxy S21 Ultra models, alongside the newer Galaxy S22 series. This update promises to improve the overall user experience with new features and improvements. We already covered this upcoming update in our last week’s coverage.

The latest One UI build versions for the Galaxy S21, S21 Plus, and S21 Ultra are identified as G991NKSU4GXDC, G996NKSU4GXDC, and G998NKSU4GXDC, respectively. Initially available in Korea, the rollout is set to expand globally soon.

The latest One UI 6.1 is loaded with some of the latest AI features and refinements. Along with all the major new features related to AI, the update also brings security updates and bug fixes. Do remember that, not all the AI features which came to the Galaxy S23 series with the One UI 6.1 update made it to the Galaxy S21 series.

A highlight of the One UI 6.1 update, which is based on Android 14, is the integration of Google’s Circle to Search feature. This tool allows users to search for anything displayed on their screen simply by drawing a circle around the text or image they are interested in. This can be done without needing to leave the app they are currently using, by just pressing and holding the home button or navigation handle. You can read about all the One UI 6.1 features in our detailed article.

Users can check for the available OTA updates from the Settings menu > Software Update > Download and Install. If you haven’t received the OTA (Over-The-Air) update notification for your Samsung Galaxy device, it’s a good idea to wait a few more days as these updates can roll out gradually. It’s possible that other regions will receive the update soon, though the exact timeline isn’t clear yet.

Should the update still not appear after a few days, you have the option to manually install the latest firmware. You can do this by following our Samsung stock firmware installation guide, which will show you how to flash the firmware specific to your model and variant.
