Android 13 QPR1 Beta 1 Update officially out – What’s new?

Although the Android 13 update is yet to be officially out for all OEMs, there’s already news on the upcoming version of Android – Android 14. It has been widely reported that the Android 14 Beta Update will arrive around April 2023 and it’ll likely allow your smartphone to connect directly to the satellites, just like the iPhone 14 Series.

This is incredibly exciting news for users but what’s even more exciting is that Google has already released the Android 13 QPR1 Beta 1 Update for all eligible devices.

The Quarterly Platform Releases or also known as QPRs are delivered to Google Pixel devices as a part of Feature Drops. Google has already been rolling out the Android 13 QPR1 Beta 1 version T1B1.220819.006 and T1B1.220819.007 for Google Pixel 6a smartphones. The update will come with loads of new features, several bug fixes, and a bunch of performance optimizations.

Even though the official release notes only cover common bug fixes and other optimizations, the update offers much more. There are many hidden features and additions with this update. Some of the notable features of the Android 13 QPR1 Beta 1 Update include the October Security Patch, Clear Calling to improve phone calls, Bluetooth LE Audio’s LC3 code, new split-screen fun animation, Screen Protector Mode, a couple of hidden animations for the upcoming Pixel tablet, and more.

While the beta update has reportedly only gone live for Pixel 6a users, Google Pixel 4a and higher devices will be eligible for the Android 13 QPR1 Beta 1 Update. The eligible device owners can grab the image files for its download site or even download the OTA update directly.
