Can you play the Warzone 2.0 DMZ mode for free?

After the incredibly successful launch of Modern Warfare 2, Warzone 2.0 is finally here and it features the all-new extraction-based DMZ mode for the players to enjoy. If you aren’t familiar with this mode, it is basically Call of Duty’s take on Escape From Tarkov as it drops the players into the Al Mazrah exclusion zone where they’ll be able to secure new weapons and gear to help in subsequent runs.

The pricing model for Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 DMZ is still unclear, so players are wondering which parts are paid and which ones are free. In this guide, you’ll get to know if you can play the Warzone 2.0 DMZ mode for free.

Can you play Warzone 2.0 DMZ mode for free?

The Warzone 2.0 DMZ mode is absolutely free to play. Similar to the standard battle royale modes in the game, you’ll be able to play the new DMZ mode without having to pay a cent. The only Call of Duty content that you need to pay for is Modern Warfare 2. Moreover, you won’t be able to play the single-player campaign, the multiplayer suite, or cooperative Spec Ops mode without having to purchase the game.

Can you play the Warzone 2.0 DMZ mode for free?

For accessing DMZ, you should boot up Warzone 2.0 and you’ll see it listed among the other game modes. Warzone 2.0 comes with the same solos, duos, trios, and quads playlist that many have come to expect from battle royale games in addition to twists like Unhinged playlists and DMZ. All of the progress will be shared between these modes, though, including weapon loadouts but it won’t carry over from the Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer mode. You should ensure that you tweak the Warzone loadouts before dropping into DMZ for the first time.

DMZ has many unique rewards aside from the standard weapon XP and Battle Pass tiers, like the M13B assault rifle. You will need to defeat the Chemist and extract from the area to unlock it. However, this can be quite tricky if you aren’t playing solo or as a duo.
