Google has finally started rolling out the latest Android 14 QPR2 stable build update to its eligible Pixel models including the latest March 2024 Security Patch Level. Talking about the Pixel devices, we indicate Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold, 8, and Pixel 8 Pro respectively.
This specific software update is currently pushing via OTA (over-the-air) for the mentioned Pixel devices in batches. Do keep in mind that the USA variant owners of the mentioned Pixel devices will be able to start receiving the same update from March 11, 2024.
It brings plenty of bug fixes and improvements for the Pixel devices that owners will love to implement. One of the most noticeable improvements is quite useful enough for the users. For instance, the quick settings tile for Bluetooth now displays up to three connected devices, battery status also shows the connected device’s battery, a quick switch to the ‘Saved’ accessories, etc.
Additionally, the latest Android 14 QPR2 update also brings an improved Pixel volume slider which is much thicker right now instead of having a thin line. Whereas the screen recording or screen casting feature also has a single app option rather than displaying the entire screen.
It seems Google has also enhanced the mic and camera privacy options with a ‘Close this app’ shortcut. Meanwhile, the Pixel’s Weather lock screen clock has also been up-to-date and shows even when an alarm or Do Not Disturb (DND) is enabled.
The Pixel Tablet users and Pixel Fold users will be able to get an improved taskbar that highlights how you can search for apps when you access the grid from multitasking. App titles can take up to double lines in the Pixel Launcher grid to display full names.
Talking about the March 2024 security patch update (2024-03-01) includes 13 security risk fixes and 25 security threat fixes for 2024-03-05. All these security vulnerabilities range from high to critical which could affect the device data and system.
All the interested Pixel 5a, Pixel 6 series, Pixel 7 series, Pixel Tablet, Pixel 8 series, and Pixel Fold owners can head over to Settings > System > Software Updates to check for the available OTA update. If available, tap on Download and Install to get up-to-date.
Wait for the update to complete and reboot the device to apply changes. In case, you’re seeing the “Your Pixel is up to date” screen, you can go to the Play Store app to check for available app updates via ‘Manage apps & device’.
