If you choose a wallpaper with darker colors your device will be applied with the dark theme automatically. You can’t manually apply dark theme on any wallpaper. The device will automatically apply the theme based on the wallpaper you set.

Steps to Enable Google Dark Theme on Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL

  1. Long press on any empty place on your home screen
  2. Tap on wallpapers
  3. From the wallpaper, picker select a wallpaper with darker color tone
  4. Apply the wallpaper
