Galaxy S20 FE joins August 2021 security update party

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE is the company’s latest device to get the August 2021 security patch update. As always, Samsung was the first to release the newest security patch which debuted on Galaxy A52 and then rolled out for Galaxy A72, Galaxy A8 (2018), and recently Galaxy S21 received the August 2021 security patch in China.

Samsung has released the new software update for Galaxy S20 FE users in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Slovakia, and Switzerland. It comes with firmware version G780FXXU5CUG6. As of now, we don’t have the complete changelog for the update, but it is unlikely to bring any other changes other than a new security patch.

Samsung is yet to detail the August 2021 security patch. So, we don’t know which security and privacy issues are getting patched. Usually, the new security patch gets detailed in the first or second week of the month.

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE users from the specified regions have already started receiving the August 2021 security update. You can manually check for the new OTA update by navigating to Settings >> Software updates. We can expect it to reach other regions over the next few days.

Samsung released the Galaxy S20 FE back in October last year running Android 10 OS. This year, it received Android 11 as the first major OS upgrade and is eligible to receive the Android 12 upgrade. The company recently confirmed that Galaxy S21 series users will be the first to test One UI 4.0 beta which is based on Android 12.
