Huawei announced HarmonyOS at HDC2019 for Huawei Smartphones

HarmonyOS from Huawei is now officially released at Huawei Developer Conference (HDC2019) event in China on August 09, 2019. After the US-China trade war, Google, Microsoft, and some other US-based companies discontinued partnership with Huawei a couple of months ago for a few days. Then it seems that everything is back in the track again. At that time, everyone thought that Huawei and Honor device users won’t get the latest Android updates from Google. So, Huawei has developed its own operating system which is now ready to compete with Android OS.

The head of Huawei’s consumer business, Richard Yu, told in a press conference that the new operating system is known as HongMeng in China which would offer a more stable and secure user experience. To fill the gap of Android OS, Huawei needs to focus on the system interface, availability, compatibility. It will be future-proof OS which is more fast, smooth, and powerful. It will also different from Android and iOS completely.

Huawei said that if anyone can replace this new OS with Android, it will be possible right now. However, there are some of the developments running with this system. The company has mentioned that the first version of the HarmonyOS will arrive later this year in its smart screen devices. Then it will be completely available and compatible with all the Huawei and Honor smartphone devices within three years.

Huawei said if the users can’t use Android anymore in the future for any reason, HarmonyOS is ready to use at any time and Huawei can switch to that OS without any issue. That’s a great achievement and remark. As we all know that Huawei is one of the largest and most selling smartphone brands worldwide. Their expansion, selling units, and the user base is continuously growing every year.

The three months stay for Huawei with US-based companies is going to end a few days. So, the US government have to take a decision on the business or partnership with Huawei. Now, if the ban lifts then Huawei can take more time to release their OS publicly. But the ban continues, Huawei will replace Android OS quickly from its devices.

Though there will be an issue in terms of the Android applications, games, tools which are available in the Play Store or online. Huawei needs time to manage and develop those apps or services for their own OS separately if possible. Meanwhile, the users may get trouble without Android apps for months as well if the new OS published earlier. Therefore, it’s very clear that Huawei needs more years to work on it in order to compete with Android apps and games compatibility.

Till then, stay tuned for more info.
