Huawei patents a new way to remove scratches on smartphone glass

The patent describes the procedure used for removing scratches on the front and back of the smartphones. According to the patent, the smartphone will be first scanned in the equipment to locate the scratches. After that, the machine uses proper chemicals depending on the location, to clean the scratches.

For scratches on the front side, alcohols will be used. And, if the scratch is found on the rear side of the smartphone, the machine will use an ultrasonic cleaner. After this, a special mixture composed of 35-45% acrylate, 50-60% epoxy resin, 2-3% initiator, and 2-3% additives is applied on a transparent film, which is then glued to the smartphone. A UV wavelength of 320 to 420nm is used to solidify the liquid.

Probably, this method of removing scratches has been tried by any of the smartphone companies till date. It is unclear, whether Huawei will use this system to offer repair services to its customers, or it is made for third-party companies.
