Oppo is one of those smartphone manufacturers who has been lagging behind in updating its smartphones with the major software updates let alone the security updates. This has been quite damaging for the company’s reputation because their phones from last year which are supposed to be their flagship phones were still running Android Lollipop until now. Now in a bid to salvage some reputation, the company has released updates to three of its smartphones which brings Android Marshmallow to the devices.
The update bumps up the software on these devices to Marshmallow. While this phones were launched last year with Android Lollipop on board, Oppo R9, R9 Plus, and F1s users in Australia can now upgrade their devices to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Once installed, the new software ‘will allow the OPPO R9 Plus and R9 to have a dual-sim function with 4G+3G compatibility.’
We have also got the download-link straight from Oppo so if you live in Australia and are interested in updating your phone which we recommend. Head over to the below link for your model names.

Download Marshmallow for F1s: Firmware link
However, as we have said time and again for any software update or security patch update, before hitting the download link, ensure that your device at least 40 percent charged. Also make sure there is at least 1.5GB free storage space on the phone or micro-SD card. Another important step before upgrading to the new software is to back-up your data. This should be done in case there is any hiccup in the update process and this could mean that the data has to be wiped before the phone could function as normal so a backup is always recommended. We hope that the Android Marshmallow update speeds up Oppo’s software update department.
