Soon after the Snapdragon event held on December 1, Xiaomi announced that Mi 11 will be the first smartphone to get the Snapdragon 888 processor. Today, Redmi Manager, Lu Weibing announced that Redmi will also be the first batch to be equipped with Snapdragon 888 SoC.
The Weibo post does not reveal the smartphone that will feature this new chipset nor the launch date. But, some recent reports hint that Redmi is in the works to launch its K40 flagship series of smartphones. So, the top-end variant of the K40 series may be powered by Snapdragon 888 chipset. Although, the official confirmation is still awaited.
Rumors are that Redmi K40 Pro will retain a pop-up selfie camera from the K30 Pro and is expected to feature a full bezel-less display. Its predecessor Redmi K30 Pro offers 33W fast charging, so with the K40 series, the company will go beyond 33W. Redmi is expected to bring a high refresh rate panel in the K40 series.
