Xiaomi Redmi Y2 Android 9 Pie update rolling out in India

Xioami has started Redmi Y2 Android 9 Pie update rolling out in India. The device was launched back in 2018 with MIUI 9.5 on the top of Android 8.1 Oreo. After a couple of months of waiting, Xioami finally started rolling out. While most of the Xiaomi devices already running on Android Pie, Redmi Y2 users have waited for a few months. The latest Android Pie update comes with the MIUI 10 Global Stable ROM. It includes the updated July 2019 Android security patch level as well to provide security over vulnerable.

The firmware update also features the system-wide dark mode and an improved Game Speed Booster. It’s worth mentioning that the system-wide dark mode has introduced in Android Q (stable) which will release by the end of this year. The Redmi Y2 also gets an optimized Mi Cloud integration with an improved synchronization functionality. Meanwhile, the software update comes with MIUI 10.3.0.3.PEFMIXM build with around 1.4GB in file size.

Xiaomi has included a new locking functionality that allows Redmi Y2 users to lock their Google contacts. The preloaded Game Speed Booster has also been optimized to display hands-free call duration accurately when using the Game Turbo mode. Similarly, Mi Cloud integration has been updated to improve sync across multiple devices.

The latest Redmi Y2 Pie update includes a new customizable Lock Screen Clock, app lock, contacts, status bar, notifications, etc. If in case, you can’t find any OTA update on your Y2 Indian variant, you can manually check for the OTA update. Just go to the phone Settings > About phone > System update.
