More details on Video Boost

The Pixel 8 Pro has an improved video recording experience with its new Video Boost feature. When you record videos using this option in the camera app, it will analyze and enhance the footage after the fact by uploading it to Google’s servers. Their systems help optimize aspects like color, exposure, stabilization and noise reduction. Once complete, you’ll receive a notification that the enhanced version is ready to view and share. The processed video should have a cleaner look compared to the original. However, an internet connection is required to take advantage of these post-recording adjustments.

There’s more than just Video Boost in the December update. Other camera improvements include better Photo Unblur and Portrait light, Night Sight in Timelapse, and the Video Boost feature for the Pixel 8 Pro. These updates are for the Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, and Pixel Fold.

Starting December 7, 2023, Pixel 8 Pro users will gradually get Video Boost. This feature is for Pixel devices that use Android 14 QPR1.

General Updates:

  • The update also includes fixes for battery and charging issues, improvements in the user interface, and more.

Plus, every few months, Pixel devices automatically get these Feature Drops, which add new stuff and make things better. This December update even brings a Pixel Watch Unlock feature for the Pixel Watch.
