Global Redmi 9A gets Android 11 and MIUI 12.5 Enhanced update

The global variant of Redmi 9A is finally receiving the Android 11 upgrade. In addition to the Android 11 goodies, the users are also getting MIUI 12.5 Enhanced, which brings features like Atomized Memory, Smart Balance, and More.

In September last year, Xiaomi released the Android 11 update for Redmi 9A users in China. And, it took over three months to reach the global variant. The latest OTA update for Redmi 9A (global) is tagged with the software version V12.5.1.0.RCDMIXM. It has a download size of about 1.9GB.

According to the changelog for Redmi 9A, the MIUI 12.5 Enhanced brings Atomized Memory, Smart Balance, and improved performance. The Atomized Memory is a RAM management technique that efficiently manages RAM among running processes. Smart Balance feature makes core system improvements to use hardware resources in a better way.

Xiaomi launched the Redmi 9A last year with Android 10 out of the box. The device is now receiving its first major OS upgrade in the form of Android 11. Redmi 9A (global) owners should have already received the Android 11 update notification on their phones. Those who haven’t received it yet should manually check for the update via Settings >> About phone >> System update.
